It's been a while!

So, it's been a long while since I posted.  Life tends to do that.  I've been busy sewing lately, a block for a charity quilt the Emerald Coast Modern Quilt Guild is working on.

Also worked on my girls Esther dresses.  Esther Conference at our church is geared toward girls from age 9-16.  We teach them, according to their age group, about respect, responsibility and relationships.  Also, at age 15 and up, they can be "crowned" an Esther of their generation.  There is a ball where the crowning takes place.  The girls dress up in gowns or just fancy dresses.  Most ALL wear a crown just because they can LOL.
Here are a few more pics from the event.  Several dresses I hemmed.  My girls dresses I made completely.
Aside from that I finally finished a solids challenge quilt and a trip around the world quilt then donated it for a silent auction to raise money for a mission trip for a girl from church.

I finished a baby quilt.

A camera case..well, 2 of them.  I like the way they turned out. :)

And smocked this dress for my friends ADORABLE little girl!
lol I think that is it!  Sorry for the tons of pics but it's been a while. ;)

Dresses for Juliette!

So, I have fabric...lots of fabric and have had it for forever!  My friend Jolene brought her adorable Juliette

over and we went through fabric and patterns.  Finally found several prints she loved and a pattern to go with it.
The first dress was black with cherries lined in red with micro dots.  TOO CUTE!

The next 3 are below:

and of course bows to match!

I really should find the cord to my camera...lol my daughters camera take fuzzy pictures!

The Miniature Bride!

Courtesy  of  Tiffany Chambers Photography, here's a picture of the miniature bride from the Abbey's wedding! Ms. Laila :)

Weddings, weddings, and more weddings!

So, this past weekend was a the wedding of the cutest couple, Abbey and Philip!  I did several projects, aside from the traditional hemming and what not.  The flower girl dress and miniature bride dress were at the top of the list!  The flower girl dress what DEFINITELY not traditional but was SO perfect for the wedding.

It's not the best picture.  I grabbed a quick shot right before delivery, but it's still as cute as can be :)  As soon as I can get a pic of the miniature bride I'll post it.  OH!  and the ring bearer!!!!  I had the opportunity to make his suspenders, knickers and bow tie!   More pics coming soon ;)

NAME CHANGE!

After much thought, and trying to figure out a different name, I have decided to go with "Mrs. Val's Sewing"  Several years back my friend Sara and her kids were at the house...along with 20+ other people.  Her son Marek wanted something and asked me in his "big boy" voice, "Mrs. Val Mrs.Val....."  LOL  it was so cute and has stuck ever since.  So, I thought it only appropriate to change the title of my blog. :)

Thanks Marek!!!!
